Surat Al Anam

Surat Al Anam is the 6th chapter (Surah) of the Quran, consisting of 165 verses. The title “Al-Anam” means “The Cattle,” and it is derived from a story mentioned in the chapter about the people of Thamud, who were destroyed after they killed a she-camel that was sent as a sign from Allah.

The Surah covers various topics, including the oneness of Allah, the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Day of Judgment, and the importance of righteous deeds. It also addresses the arguments of disbelievers and emphasizes the need for humility, gratitude, and seeking forgiveness from Allah.

Some of the key verses in Surat Al Anam include:

  • “Say: ‘Indeed, my Lord has guided me to a straight path, a correct religion, the way of Abraham, inclining toward truth. And he was not among those who associated others with Allah.'” (6:161)
  • “And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight, and the heart – about all those [one] will be questioned.” (17:36)
  • “And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allah or denies His verses? Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed.” (6:21)
  • “Indeed, Allah does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever.” (39:3)

Overall, Surat Al Anam emphasizes the importance of belief in Allah and following His guidance and warns against the consequences of disbelief and disobedience.
